How Long to Use Crest Whitestrips

Whitestrips have been on the market for some 10 years now. They are a proven teeth whitener at a decent price. Some rumors have arose about safety of the strips and how long one should wear them. Does wearing them longer make your teeth whiter?

Since crest whitestrips hit the stores, the over-the-counter market for them has really exploded. Now any company that deals with dental products has their own brand. This is because they have shown to work and consumers are buying them at a reasonable price.

Safety - Proctor and Gamble, the manufacturer of whitestrips, says that they are completely safe when used as directed. They have used extensive testing on the product to ensure it is free side effects for consumers if used correctly.

Tooth Sensitivity - People who tend to get sensitive to strips should use them every other day instead. The strips may cause sensitivity in teeth, gums,or both. If this problem persists, Crest suggests you stop using the whitening strips.

Cancer of the Mouth - The FDA has not been able to link hydrogen peroxide, the active ingredient in the strips, to any mouth cancers. Peroxide has been used for years as a mouthwash and for other products that deal with hygiene. No one has ever found a link between peroxide and cancer.

Application Time - The usual treatment with whitestrips is to apply one to the upper teeth and one to the lower teeth, one to two times a day. Crest suggests twice a day for 30 minutes, but if you have sensitivity, try it for just once a day. Crest Whitestrips Premium and Premium Plus are a stronger concentration, at 10%, so they are only worn twice a day for a week. Crest Whitestrips Classic are less concentrated, at 6%, so they need to be worn for 2 weeks.
